If you are short on time but still want to experience the absolute best of Tanzania's wildlife, this 2-day overnight safari is designed for you. It pairs the two most accessible, action-packed parks on the Northern Circuit into one seamless journey.
Day 1 brings you face-to-face with the massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees of Tarangire National Park. After a comfortable night's rest in Karatu, Day 2 takes you deep into the Ngorongoro Crater—the world's largest inactive volcanic caldera—where the concentration of predators and the presence of the endangered black rhino guarantee a spectacular finale before you fly out.
Your guide will meet you directly at Arusha Airport upon arrival. We drive straight to Tarangire National Park, famous for its striking baobab landscapes and some of the largest elephant populations in Africa. Enjoy a full afternoon game drive and a picnic lunch in the park. In the late afternoon, we exit the park and drive to the highlands of Karatu, checking in at the beautiful Marera Valley Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, we drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend 600 meters to the crater floor. Spend the morning tracking the Big Five in this unique, enclosed ecosystem. Following a picnic lunch by the hippo pool, we will ascend the crater wall and visit a traditional Maasai Village to learn about their pastoral culture. Finally, your guide will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your onward flight.
