Arrival at JRO and overnight at Summit Lodge

Kilimanjaro International Airport arrival, meet-and-greet, road transfer to Arusha and a Half Board overnight.

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you are met by the Z&K Tanzania Safaris team and transferred to Arusha. This first night is intentionally simple and calm. It allows you to land, recover from the flight, settle into Tanzania and begin the safari the following morning without rushing directly to the parks after immigration and luggage collection.

Dinner and overnight are arranged at Summit Lodge on a Half Board basis. This is a practical arrival-night choice for a joining safari because it keeps the start smooth and allows the group to leave Arusha together the next morning for Tarangire National Park.

Full-day safari in Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire, full-day game drive, then dinner and overnight near Karatu.

After breakfast, the group departs Arusha and drives toward Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is one of the strongest first safari days in northern Tanzania because the landscape changes quickly: ancient baobabs, seasonal river lines, open plains and large elephant herds create a clear sense of arrival in the wild.

You spend the day inside the park with a picnic-style safari rhythm. Depending on wildlife movement, the guide may focus on river areas, woodland zones and open grazing sections where elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo and predators may be found. In the late afternoon, you continue toward the Karatu area for dinner and overnight.

Accommodation is at Marera Valley Lodge or Country Lodge, depending on room availability at the time of confirmation.

Drive to the Serengeti

Karatu to the Serengeti plains, entering one of Africa’s most famous wildlife landscapes.

After breakfast, the group travels through the Ngorongoro highlands and onward toward Serengeti National Park. This is a longer movement day, but it is also one of the most scenic transitions in the northern circuit. The road climbs through highland country before dropping toward the vast plains that give the Serengeti its name.

Once inside the Serengeti, the drive becomes part of the safari. The Central Serengeti is known for resident big cats, open plains, kopjes, river valleys and year-round wildlife. The exact game-drive flow depends on arrival time, road conditions and wildlife reports from the day.

Dinner and overnight are at Serengeti Safari Haven or Central Serengeti Luxury Camp, according to confirmed availability.

Half-day Serengeti safari and overnight near Ngorongoro

Morning wildlife viewing in the Serengeti, then transfer toward the Ngorongoro highlands.

The morning is dedicated to a half-day game drive in the Central Serengeti. This is the best time to look for predators before the heat rises, especially around open plains, kopjes and riverine areas. The guide will use current wildlife information to decide whether to focus on cats, grazing herds or general plains wildlife.

After the Serengeti game drive, the route turns back toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The change in scenery is immediate: from open grassland into highland country, with cooler air and crater-rim landscapes setting the tone for the next day’s descent.

Dinner and overnight are at Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp or Ngorongoro Ang’ata Camp.

Full-day safari in Ngorongoro Crater

Descend into the crater floor for one of Tanzania’s most concentrated wildlife experiences.

After breakfast, the group descends into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day safari. The crater floor is one of the most productive wildlife areas in East Africa, with grasslands, forest patches, seasonal wetlands and open plains held inside the walls of an ancient volcanic caldera.

The day is focused on classic crater wildlife: lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas and, with luck, black rhino sightings at distance. Because this is a full-day crater safari, the guide has more flexibility to move between habitats rather than rushing through only one section.

In the late afternoon, you ascend from the crater and continue to Karatu. Dinner and overnight are at Marera Valley Lodge or Twiga Lodge.

Lake Manyara safari and afternoon return to Arusha

Morning safari in Lake Manyara National Park, then drop-off at Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport.

After breakfast, the group drives to Lake Manyara National Park for the final safari of the route. Manyara is a compact and scenic park with groundwater forest, lake views, birdlife, baboons, elephants and plains wildlife. It works well on the final day because it sits naturally on the route back toward Arusha.

After the game drive, the vehicle continues back to Arusha in the afternoon. Drop-off can be arranged at Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport, depending on your onward flight time.
